26 OctHow can I learn about investing market trends?
18 OctWhat is day trading and how can i do it?
I keep hearing about day trading, is it easy to learn and is it likely that i will not lose all my money doing it? I only have about $1000 to start and i am only 23 years old but i think it maybe fun and a learning experience for me if anything. What websites should I go with to learn/do some trading?
Day trading is the buying and selling of stocks during the trading day by punters on their own account. The aim is to make a profit on the day and have no open positions at the close of the trading session. Day trading became a fad during the 1990s boom as people gave up their regular jobs to play the market full-time. The bursting of the hi-tech bubble was a rude awakening.
11 OctStock Investing?
What do you think are going to be big stocks in the next market or the maket we are in? my bet is the Microsft. (even thought it already is huge
The truth is, no one knows. People have lost big money trying to guess how the market, or companies, will do.
Best bet – buy ALL the companies: Vanguard Total Stock Market Index.
Many studies have shown that the real winners in the stock market are the ones that simply buy and hold low-cost index funds. This is what I did and I retired in my 40′s.
Remember the tech bust?? Everybody thought they knew which stocks were going to make them millionares. They were wrong.
04 OctWhat are some Pros and Cons of investing in ETF’s?
There are two different classes of ETF’s, Index funds and closed end funds. They each have different pros and cons.
Pros of both: you can buy or sell them at a moment’s notice.
Pros of index funds: very low expense ratios, tax advantage because they do not churn their porfolios so there is little realized capital gains.
They darn near index anything one could imagine and there are hundres to choose from
Cons of index funds: not all but many are indexed to a market cap index which means that the index may be 25% weighted to 3 or 4 stocks. Very bad for investment diversification.
Others are indexed to an artificial index which is not really an index at all. These are actually semi-managed funds. Included among these are funds indexed to Value Line top ranked stocks and Zacks ranked stocks.
Pros of closed end funds: Many sell at discounts to net assets. It is like buying stocks on sale.
