08 MarYour Questions About Qqqq Trading Stocks

Helen asks…

Stocks about to drop && Your Opinion?

So I was looking at the QQQQ and they are just under $50 which they have not made it over in the past 3 years, do you think they are going to “plummet”?

I have been paper trading for a while and considering to make this my first real trade (short QQQQ) since in all fairness the QQQQ is extremely high and like I said never been over $50 in 3 years and shows extreme resistance.

Please let me know what your opinion is, ofcourse they could just plow on through so please share your thoughts!

PS: if I do go through with this trade.. should I just buy the QID rather than short the QQQQ or does it really matter. Thanks again!
Ok so I should be more clear, the QQQQ has not broke through $50 and held for long in the past 3 years…

admin answers:

QQQQ was over $50 in April.

Experience teaches that you are trying to turn guesses into facts / predictions based on validation. This is rarely a profitable way to do things.

If you have already separated your speculation (gambling) money from your nest egg money (retirement/hopes & dreams), you need to balance, hedge, and keep your perspective fixed on the big picture (10 years at least; 50 years is better).

Never put all your money down. Never take all your money out.

Never loose sight of the fact that QQQQ has been traded at $120 and $20 within the memory of millions of current traders. Current movements are just noise.

Maria asks…

What do the letters ADF, BAT, NGM, S, N, B, K and the like, which appear after a stock trade on a ticker mean?

While watching stocks trade in realtime, the all seem to have up to three letters appended to them (i.e. QQQQ-NGM, SPY-ADF, IWM-S, etc.).

admin answers:

Most trades don’t have those.

What you have listed are index ETFs. The first letters are the indexes and the letters following are the particular fund companies that have the ETFs of that index which together makes up the name of the ETF.

01 MarYour Questions About Etf Funds Investors

Mandy asks…

For long-term investors, which are better: mutual funds or ETF’s and why?

admin answers:

ETFs. Mutual funds have to distribute any capital gains or dividends to the investor each year. ETFs have no distributions.

Lizzie asks…

Which was the first brokerage firm to offer an ETF (exchange traded fund) to investors?

admin answers:

Try getting details at http://care4com.blogspot.com. They will get details for you at very low cost.

Mark asks…

Would you recommend ETF’s to long-term, young investors over mutual funds? Why or why not?

admin answers:

The only real difference that comes to mind is taxes. No taxes are due on ETFs until they are redeemed. I believe that capital gains taxes are due at that time.

Many mutual funds, on the other hand, have complicated tax structures that may involve paying a combination of ordinary taxes and capital gains taxes on the fund every year.

The point becomes moot if it is part of an IRA.

Carol asks…

Do you think ETf’s have now made mutual funds obsolete?

I find ETF‘s charges to be as low as the cheapest MF, are more convenient to buy and sell (no forms to fill) and much easier to figure out what the are investing in. Their name makes this perfectly clear.

Also there is no active manager to mess things up with his incompetence. The only thing MF do better is communicating with their investors. Grateful for your views.

admin answers:

Until some rules are changed, ETFs are slightly limited in their ability to give you the best investments in a ” sector”…ETFs are like “index” funds and must ( by law) invest in every aspect of the particular sector…whereas, a mutual fund manager can pick three or four of the top companies in the sector to be almost all of the funds holdings…makes a BIG difference.
…and the mutual fund manager can totally avoid the shakier companies in the sector!
